New Facebook Privacy Settings

So I just found out this new information about facebook, figured I’d pass it on…

This week the New FB Privacy setting called “Instant Personalization” goes into effect. The new setting shares your data with non-FB sites …& it is automatically set to “Enabled”. Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Apps & Websites>Instant Personalization>edit settings & uncheck “Enable”.

Also I would suggest looking at the Public Search option to see if you enable public searching about yourself.

You may already know this but since we talked about it in class I thought I’d share the information!

  1. Thanks for the heads up, I wasn’t aware of this. It seems like as much as I use Facebook I would be aware of this, but I guess this slipped passed me. Seems like they are always changing there privacy settings trying to catch you off guard and release your information for the world!

  2. Facebook is ALWAYS changing their privacy settings and it’s getting old. It honestly turns me off to wanting to participate in Facebook at all. Even though I don’t put things on my Facebook that I wouldn’t want to share with other people, that doesn’t mean that my friends abide by the same Facebook rules that I do. It’s frustrating. But thank you for the heads up, now to go to some privacy editing!
