Welcome to our new contributors!

After wrestling with WordPress for a full day, I have finally added everyone who has sent their email info to me to our contributors list!  Now, please contribute!  Share those great blogs you discussed in class on Wednesday, as inspiration, as each of you begins to set up your own blogs.

Happy blogging!

    brandflakesforbreakfast.

Humongo, a digital creative agency has impregnated the Internet with a huge slice of randomness — brandflakesforbreakfast. This blog serves as a warehouse full of news, ideas, branding, design, gossip, social and interactive media for those with a different sense of humor. Awesomeness spews from each posts unique and random content. However, this blog is not intended for the faint of heart. Some of the posts could definitely be considered offensive to certain communities.

On October 6, brandflakesforbreakfast featured a post that discussed a new social networking site GameCrush. Apparently, this site matches video gamers with “hot girls” in hopes of creating some chemistry. Users can set up “play dates” and private sessions to get to know one another.

This new website could possibly revolutionize Internet dating and social media. GameCrush has found a way to include two subsets of people who are known to be reclusive, and include them in a realm of virtual romance. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if social networking websites such as Facebook, created some sort coupling system for lonely singles.

The blog I chose for last weeks assignment is called, “If its hip, its here” started in 2007 by Laura Sweet. Sweet is an advertising and creative art director who has worked with brands such as Ikea and Lexus. The intent of Sweet’s blog is to inform the public about unusual products and events, such as art, photos fashion etc.

I was interested in this blog in particular because it articulates something rather than the economy, sports or politics which are prevalent subjects to blog about. Perhaps not as important as other world affairs, this blog is refreshing in the fact that it explores fascinating objects in our culture.

I also chose The Social Media Marketing Blog (www.scottmonty.com). Check out his most recent post, “The Blogosphere in 2010,” which has tons of facts about the blog world.

The blog I discussed in class last week was from Ad Age 150
    PR Squared
    http://www.pr-squared.com/

    These were my responses…
What is the topic? Social media “conversations about social media and marketing”

What is the nature of the most recent threads? The most recent thread is titled “interruptions are evil” and discusses how twitter, facebook, phone alerts and email can be counterproductive and lead to work that is inefficient.

What do you find most interesting? The blogger cited information that employees of an outsourcing company spent an average of 11 minutes on a project or task before they were interrupted. Once interrupted, it took these employees 25 minutes to get back on task.

What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of the blog? : I like the insight about how social media can be a distraction from work efficiency, however it seems ironic that someone so absorbed in social media/twittering/blogging would be making this point.
